Breaking News: Home Depot Paint

Monday, January 18, 2010

If you care about paint at all you might be interested to hear what I discovered this morning. I was chatting with the paint lady at Home Depot (don’t ask why I was there [again] at 8 am on my way to work…you don’t want to know) and she told me why they’re clearing out their Ralph Lauren Paint. They are DISCONTINUING it! And not only that, but they’re replacing it with MARTHA STEWART’s line of paint. I swear…that girl has been everywhere: Sherwin Williams, Sears, Lowe’s. She’s hard to keep up with.

Sooo, if there are some Ralph Lauren paint colors that you really love, now’s the time to either have that paint mixed or grab a bunch of those little color cards to have color matched in the future.

Some of my favorites are:

  • Sisal
  • Cathedral Grey
  • Manor Grey
  • Architectural Cream
  • Burlap
  • Cotswold Breeches

Have a great Monday!

Oh, thanks for the heads up! I'm a huge fan of Ralph's Nantucket White.

She is taking over the world. I've used RL a couple times and loved the colors, but now stick with SW, mainly because their store is super close to my house and the staff is very helpful. Gotta love that.

That is so sad to hear. I've never purchased Ralph Lauren paint but for every blog I've read about home improvement it seems that 4 out of 6 people love it and use it religiously! It's a shame how can so many smart minded DIY people be wrong!?

After reading on your blog friday that it was on sale, I ran out to "just look" and the lady told me to snatch up everything I needed, because when it was gone it was gone. I came back the next day and bought 12 gallons and the lady that helped me that day told me about Martha Stewart...

Not too sad, but so GLAD to have gotten such a great deal!!

The guy at our Home Depot told me they're just getting rid of the regular paint (matte, egshell, semi-gloss) but they're keeping the specialty ones like suede and metallic. But the regular ones are clearanced right now and they're doing the $5 rebate this weekend. woohoo!

Ack ! I love RL paint ! It's just as good as BM ! I love their metallics series too ! Must go to HD to get a quart of touch up for my master and living room - both RL. Sadness.

"Cotswold Breeches" makes me laugh.

So interesting...I have Martha Stewart colors in my kids bedrooms, and went to Lowe's and they told me Martha Stewart paint is discontinued there. She must have switched to Home Depot.

Wow. I will probably swing by and pick up a gallon of the suede paint we used for our office and dinning room for those "just in case" moments! Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE Cathedral Gray...I have it in my office at home and in a waiting area in my husband's office at work, too. Love your blog!

Just an FYI, I went to Home Depot and the gallons were $15 a piece with the $5 rebate but they are running out of the base colors. I brought home some swatches and she said the darker colors were easier to find. That is fine with me because I am painting my double fireplace mantel black. I am headed back down there tomorrow.

thanks for the heads up, can I ask where you used the •Sisal and did you like the result. Love it online but in the stores it looked a little green and wondered if it was just the lighting. thanks!

I used "Club Navy" in my living room on a couple of the walls and get so many compliments. I love it!

We just moved to an area that does NOT have a Home Depot nearby but does have Lowe's. Lowe's "discontinued" the Martha Stewart line and will continue to sell the RL line. Not promoting Lowe's or anything but if you are military you get a 10% discount at Lowe's. This is good all the time but you have to ask for it as they don't really advertise it. We've used the discount in conjuntion with other offers which makes it really nice. I figure it never hurts to ask!

If your hesitant about which room to begin introducing colour try your Dining Room first. Rich, dark or saturated colours work beautifully in Dining Rooms as they intensify their sense of drama and increase their intimate atmosphere. Colours such as Eating Room Red by Farrow & Ball or Haitian Flower by Behr work especially well to create intrigue while also showcasing architectural features (mouldings, fireplaces or chandeliers).

Hello ladies. Well, for all of you who bought Ralph Lauren paint at Home Depot,(or at least you thought you got RL paint) here is an update for you; The Home Depot Store discontinued RL paint because that paint was not the original RL paint. Home Depot was pulled out as a supplier because Home Depot used RL colors to mix in other brands of paint. A little bit before I made a research about it, I had the opportunity of comparing RL paint at my local Home Depot store and I did order the RL paint at the RL Outlet and the consistency was way different. Hope that helped somehow.
