I don't know what it is about ticking stripes, but I just can't get enough of them. I love their simplicity, their casual feel, and their French (or Swedish) vibe. Here's some eye candy for you.
* What terriffic pics! Did you know that, if very old, the wicker/wooden/straw-like piece above the black bed (w/ the numbers on it), was originally used to store artillery rounds in the past? I have one I found in Europe~ sadly, someone REpainted the black numbers, which I would have preferred left in their faded condition, but I STILL just love it... (And if yours has the round "holes" in "wood" in the bottom, that is WHERE the base of each artillery round stood. Cool, huh?)... Thought you might be interested!
* Note: Just took another look~ it appears this is a photo from a catalog... Just FYI, it looks like the old leather "straps" are missing, so it's most likely a repro, but gee, they are sooo fun, I think!). Enjoyed your posting here! *
So many great posts today.. and this one is no exception!!! Nothing like a good dose of ticking... it conjures up so many images .. a little bit french, a little bit grandma's bedding... and a little bit beachy. I LOVE the black armoire!!
Oh yes, I'm loving the ticking too. Especially black and white ticking - so smart and sophisticated. I've just bought some ticking which I'm going to use in a project in my son's bedroom.
Me too!! I am in love with ticking! I have to be careful not to go overboard with it. So far, we have made some blue and white ticking stripe curtains for our son's vintage train ispired room, and some brown and white ticking chair pads for our bar stools. I like it, because I really like striped fabrics, but the ticking is a nice subtle stripe. Love it! :)
Ah yes! Ticking - so cute! I'm looking to re-do the living room and I want something casual like ticking and large checks and hydrangeas or geraniums....I know what I want, I just can't find it :( ~ Robyn
I love the ticking stripes! I saved my little boy's overalls with them and I really want to make something out of them! Thanks for the RSVP for the paint party~can't wait to see what you share!!
Thrilled to find your great blog! I'm just starting out on a project where we will incorporate blk/wht ticking fabric into the room. While googling the "blk/wht ticking" for inspiration, i found your blog! I'll keep you posted or hope you'll follow my blog, as I incorporate the look into a client's "fish camp" guest bedroom! All the best, Jeanette jvw home
