Paint Colors in My Home

Monday, March 8, 2010

I get a lot of questions about the paint colors in my home, so I thought it was about time I actually wrote a post about them. I’ve also added them to “The Cottage” section of the navigation bar above (yes, such a novel idea…you would think I just started blogging [smacking forehead with hand]).

Kitchen (part 1 and part 2)

Walls: Restoration Hardware Cappuccino

Wainscoting: Sherwin Williams Dover White

(I’m not sure what the color is on the cabinets since they were already cream when we moved in, but the Dover White does coordinate with them nicely)

Living Room

I just repainted the living room and I don’t have a photo up yet because I’m sewing new springy pillows, and I can’t possibly show you the living room without the new pillows. Here’s a swatch though. Colors always look different on the screen, but in person it’s a nice warm tan. Yummy.

Walls: Sherwin Williams Macadamia

SW Macadamia

MASTER BEDROOM

Walls: Behr Paint+Primer in Silver Tinsel

(it’s not with the regular Behr colors, it’s in a separate section as part of the new Behr Paint+Primer line)

Guest Room

Walls: Color Place Bleached Wheat

(The previous owners painted this color. They purchased it at Walmart. I do like the color, though.)

Have a great Monday!

Aw, thanks ladies. You're very sweet.

Virginia House - I do like their new line too. They have so many beautiful colors. I can't decide if it's worth the extra money or not, though. Then again, I'm pretty cheap :).

I'd pay any amount to avoid the extra step of priming- I'm so impatient!!

Thanks for posting these!!! If you check out my blog I am having quite the fight with where to take my kitchen redo design. I see you have a WHITE kitchen with the brown toned walls, LOVE IT! And you worked some oil brushed bronze fixtures in there.... check out my dilemma and let me know if my creamy white marble look would work with my contemporary lighting fixture. I am so torn!!!

I LOVE your kitchen! I've been trying to convince my hubby to let me paint our dark blue walls and our 90's oak cabinets white - when I showed him your photo he really liked it too and gave me the go ahead!!! I'm so excited to get a light beige on the walls and just get the kitchen lightened up! THANK YOU THANK YOU! :)

I bought a gallon of the Ultra or Ulta Paint from Home Depot. Primer & Paint in one. Does it cover in one coat? I haven't used it yet.

I looked at paint at Home Depot and I was surprised to see Silver Tinsel in the green family. I'm thinking of going with a gray bedroom, any suggestions on traditional gray vs. a green gray?

Love that Restoration Hardware color Cappuccino. I just painted mine Latte from Sherwin Williams. It's up on my blog now.
It's hard to show them on the computer isn't it. Never looks quite like it does in real life.
Beautiful Kitchen. I love it.

I just purchased some of the Behr Paint+Primer in Sparrow for the bedroom. Very excited to get painting this evening and am hoping one good coat of this will cover the existing dark brown! Thanks for this post, I'm finding it very helpful.

My house is VERY small...shy of 650 sq ft. Want to paint a tan/beige/taupe color. Should I go with the same color throughout? I'm afraid if I use different colors, it will look chopped up and smaller than it already is.
