Interrupting Regularly Scheduled Programming to Discuss Makeup

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Okay – I wasn’t going to do this, but I can’t get it out of my head…so here goes. Beth at Stories of A to Z is having a makeup party. There’s no way I’m going to show you what I look like without makeup, but I thought I’d at least show you what cosmetics I use.

My favorite brand is Bobbi Brown. It’s way too expensive (for me), but my mom hooked me on it years ago and I’ll beg, borrow and sell on Ebay to pay for it. The whole line is high quality stuff, and it creates a look that’s pretty and fresh, but still looks natural. I definitely don’t like to look like I’m made-up…unless I’m going to a party in the evening or something.

My secret beauty tools are:

Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick

(I wear Porcelain because I’m soooo pale)

This foundation is super easy and fast to use - just swipe it on and blend with a sponge. It provides coverage without looking “fake”. Love.it.

Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit

(I wear Ivory)

This is the best concealer I’ve found. I have dark circles under my eyes and it takes some serious concealer to…well, conceal them. This stuff does the trick.

Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder

(I wear Natural)

For the truly pale, this stuff is a Godsend. I just add a little to my checks, forehead and nose to make me…not look like a corpse. The Bobbi Brown bronzer also isn’t sparkly at all, which I like – because a real tan doesn’t make your skin look like glitter, it just gives you color.

Bobbi Brown Blush

(I wear Sand Pink – not the fuchsia color below )

I apply the blush lightly on my cheeks over the bronzer.

Bobbi Brown Eye Shadows

(I wear Bone all over my lids, Stone on lower lids and crease, and I line upper lid with Black Plum shadow)

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo

I lightly fill in my brows with this powder using a small angled brush. It works great and keeps things looking natural.

L’oreal’s Voluminous Mascara

(I wear black)

L'oreal Voluminous

Bobbi Brown Lipstick

(I wear Brownie – my fave everyday color…that’s not the color in the photo below)

L’oreal Color Juice Lip Gloss

(I wear Passion Fruit Squeeze)

L'oreal Color Juice LipglossI love this lip gloss. It’s inexpensive, not too shiny, moisturizing, and not sticky.

Layla's photo of me

And that’s it. The whole makeup shabang…now back to regularly scheduled programming. Thanks for indulging me.

I love me some Bobbi Brown too! Their skincare is also amazing! I love their camoflauge color that goes with the concealer for under the eyes. Seriously makes it last way longer and look way more even! You do a great job on your makeup and look simply stunning Dahling!

Hey hey! I linked up too and have to admit I was a little bummed to not see the full "before" and "after" but I love that you shared what you love and you look lovely with it all on! (As I'm sure you look lovely without makeup too!) I made sure I visited everyone to cheer them on since it IS hard to bare your naked face! :) Thank for sharing!

You are such a good friend to indulge me! And now I want to come over and play in your makeup drawer! All of that gorgeously expensive Bobby Brown collection you have going on there looks magnificent...and so do you. Thanks again for linking up!

Martha! You're my new best friend! I was dangerously close to running out of my foundation and I just saved $17 buying it on Ebay. Bless you!

Glad you decided to join in! I was not going to it as well but I could not get it out of my head either.
I am a Bobbi Brown lover also. She is awesome! Her make up colors are so natural.

Wow, you commit to a brand, don't you?! I'm all over the page with my brands, but maybe I'll have to try a little BB! ; )

omgoodness! you are beautiful! love me some bobbi brown as well.

can i just say this is my first time to your blog - and i don't know where in the world i have been? coming from the beth's link party...but can we skip the m-up part & go straight to you painting the bad brass shower trim. umm, yes. i am currently the owner of bad brass.
can i also say that i have formica counter tops in my kitchen? we have done everything else to the kitchen but the countertops. our house is almost 100 y.o. i can't believe i am just finding you now...but better late then never.

sorry to ramble. i just can't get over that your most popular posts are EXACTLY what i needed to read. so thank you!

btw, you really do look beautiful in your picture.

p.s. sorry me again.

would you recommend painting formica countertops in the kitchen? i noticed the few posts i have seen of yours are for bathrooms. and let's face it...my kitchen has tons more traffic & coutertop use then a bathroom would.
do you think they would chip & scratch?

I love Bobbi Brown too! My major weakness are the palettes. I've got the same Foundation stick...also in Porcelain. I actually have some Bobbi Brown blush that looks about as bright as the one you posted, but I promise it isn't that scary on! :)

I'm super pale too so I always love reading recommendations aimed at us ghosties. I've never really paid much attention to the Bobby Brown counter but I'm looking for a new foundation right now so thanks for the recommendation!

I think you're gorgeous - inside and out!

I'm a M.A.C. girl myself - but the Bobbi Brown is definitely working for you.

Sooo glad I got to meet you!
