Wonder Woman's Got Nothing on Us

Friday, October 2, 2009

Some of you may have seen a post I published yesterday evening in which I outlined a mountain of projects I was considering thinking of possibly trying to attempt over the weekend. Well..I deleted the post because I felt like I published it before really thinking it through fully.

I felt like it left the impression that I really am some sort of crazy Wonder Woman wannabe that repairs toilets, paints rooms, and hold garage sales (while juggling chainsaws…on fire) every weekend. That is soooo not the case, and I definitely don’t want anyone feeling like I’m a super go getter and they’re not “doing enough” because the chainsaws they juggle aren’t on fire.

In reality, I have a huge list I hope to accomplish every weekend…and then I usually get home after grocery shopping Saturday morning and say… “Whew I’m tuckered out. I think I’ll flop down on the couch and watch HGTV and Bravo. And maybe feed my son a PB&J sandwich….maybe.”

Wonder Woman was really cute, she had a great outfit (and figure) and she could jump really high (I always thought that was cool), but she didn’t have to deal with half of the responsibilities we have in real life….and I never once saw her juggle chainsaws while grocery shopping, cooking dinner, and creating a beautiful, loving home for her family :) .

I hope you all have a great weekend!

That was a blessing, Annicole :) I do hope your garage sale goes well, and that you have a lovely time tonight at the game.

Warmly,
Jacci

You said this perfectly! Here's to Wonder Woman being Wonder Woman - and you being YOU! I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

Aww, how sweet. I did see the post in my queue but didn't get to read it. I've been lagging majorly.

But today I've been on a mission. I've been cleaning house, finishing my fall decorations, all while entertaining a 2 year old, and all the other crazy things that come with being a mom.

While in the middle of it, I found myself thinking that I just wasn't good enough. I haven't been blogging, my house feels a mess all the time, I yelled at my daughter today, and I'm not decorating like 'so & so' would.

I stopped myself right then & there, changed my thinking with all that positive self talk, and went about my day. It's not about being perfect, and that to-do list doesn't define our success.

Anyway, I guess I'll have to direct all my readers over here to read my first post in a long time. :)

Happy Friday!

Aw, I liked the Wonder Woman post. I made my husband read it. I can also relate to this too. My husband tells me he is going away for a weekend and you would think from my to do list he was going to be gone for a year. Besides without a to do list, life would be boring!

My husband always tells me I put more on my "to do" list than humanly possible. :)

I didn't have any Super Woman underoos but we used to take aluminum foil and make a headband and bracelets. :)

I'm a HUGE list maker and project starter. I think you do an awesome job.

I've just been catching up on your past posts and I have to tell you that I LOVE your bedroom re-do! It is absolutely gorgeous. And peaceful. And elegant. I have been looking for blue paint for my bedroom, so I will add your color to the other 50 swatches I have tacked up.

I also saw that you'll be painting your shower thingie to see how it holds up. That is a brilliant idea. I just haven't been brave enough (or had the time) to even think about doing my shower surround. I will keep checking back to see how that goes.

Your blog is always one of my favorites for inspiration. Just wanted to let you know. Have a wonderful weekend!

Great post - I think we put to much pressure on ourselves, always!! Glad you realize we all can't be Wonder Women - did you consider the Bionic Woman though??

I would rather look like Wonder Woman than be a Wonder Woman.

I was actually her for Halloween when I was five. I wonder what I would look like now squeezed into that leotard?
