ST. LOUIS WEEKEND GETAWAY

Sunday, February 8, 2009

I'm sorry there was no "Friday Etsy Love" last week. I ended up spending the weekend in St. Louis for my son's basketball tournament. I hadn't been to St. Louis before, and we had a lot of fun.

We visited the arch...it's really tall (I know..duh)!

We had snowball fights with friends.

And....SHOPPED!

Since we don't have an Anthropologie in my city I make a point of visiting one whenever I'm out of town. (Um...I apologize for the terrible photo quality. I decided to be stealth and take pictures with my Blackberry because I was too skeered to use my real camera in the store).

Look at these great lampshades. So feminine!

And I love this table and chair.

I took this picture in Restoration Hardware because I was trying to figure out how they make their beds look so darn fluffy and pulled together. Seriously, my down comforter is never that cloud like.
Oops! I almost forgot the best part! I went to Home Goods this morning and got some great deals on amazing stuff for my bathroom redo - fluffy white towels, bath mats in soothing spa colors, and pretty glass containers. Those of you with Home Goods are soooo lucky.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Love the pictures you took! Pretty things!

In regards to your down comforter never being that fluffy - you may already know this, but if not, it's worth sharing! When we got married 10 years ago we were at Macy's doing our bridal registry. We wanted a down comforter, so the sales associate asked us what size bed we had and we told her a queen. She said "Great! Register for a King size comforter". We thought she was crazy...did she misunderstand when we said queen? Nope. She explained that the fluffiness is achieved by buying the correct sized duvet for the bed you have, but then buying a down comforter one size too big for your bed! She was right! Always fluffy and we've been doing it that way ever since! So, like I said, you may already know that, but if not, that's the secret! :)

AnNicole, it looks like you had a great time in St. Louis. I love those lampshades. I think they used a featherbed to make it so fluffy. You bought some great things for your bathroom. I can't wait to see it.

I just found your blog in the last couple days via Nester's linky, and I'm really enjoying it! I'm in the St. Louis area; it's a great city! If you ever come back, there are a lot of free attractions. The fabulous zoo, the science center, the history museum, all free!

I just discovered your blog. Very entertaining!
One time when I was at Restoration Hardware, I asked a sales person how they make the bed so fluffy & she said they use 2 comforters in a duvet.
I thought I would share that with you since you've shared so much. Keep up the great work.
